My dream bookstore has a vast selection of books which are scattered around in corners and nooks of various rooms over three or four levels of an old, spacious but light building. There’s a cafe in the front room with a coffee and beverage selection that rivals MeMe Chocolat and there are book launches and poetry readings held every Thursday evening.
Independent book stores of any kind are close runner ups when they are doing it for the love of the written word. So it’s with a certain amount of joy that I am posting on a book launch being held at Bloom and Curll Bookshop on one of my favourite streets, Colston St, in Bristol.
I haven’t read the book but it is published by Eibonvale Press which is a small press run by a writer, artist and reader who loves books apparently. The following is what I’ve been sent so see if any of it sounds interesting and go support some people who will love your attention.
Jet McDonald is launching his debut novel “Automatic Safe Dog“, published by Eibonvale Press, at Bloom and Curll Bookshop, Bristol on Thursday July 14, 7.30pm. Automatic Safe Dog is a savage, laugh out loud satire on consumer culture and a darn good read. Jet will be reading from his book and giving away furniture made out of dogs.
